American Homes 4 Rent is a real estate investment trust based in Agoura Hills. Early funding included $600 million from the Alaska Permanent Fund (The Alaska Permanent Fund is a fund developed mainly from oil revenues in Alaska). The company held its initial public offering in August 2013. As of September 30, 2016, AMH owned 48,153 single-family properties in selected submarkets in 22 states.
