OTE Levels - Multi-Timeframe (HuntsPip)

29
OTE Levels MTF (HuntsPip) plots Optimal Trade Entry (OTE) Fibonacci retracement levels within the current swing range, derived from market structure detected on a configurable timeframe. It gives traders precise retracement zones - particularly the 62% to 79% sweet spot favored in smart money methodology - aligned with the broader market structure, enabling high-probability entries during pullbacks where order flow is most likely to drive price back in the direction of the prevailing trend.

CONCEPTS

The Optimal Trade Entry (OTE) is a concept from ICT-style analysis that focuses on a specific Fibonacci retracement zone within a swing range. Rather than using the full set of Fibonacci levels, OTE narrows attention to the area between the 0.618 and 0.786 retracement levels. In a bullish swing, this zone sits in the lower portion of the range where price has pulled back deeply; in a bearish swing, it sits in the upper portion.

Some traders interpret this zone as an area where retracements may find support or resistance before continuing in the direction of the prevailing trend. The 0.705 level - the midpoint between 0.618 and 0.786 - is sometimes used as an additional reference within the zone. The concept is built on the broader idea that deep retracements within a trending structure can offer more favorable positioning relative to the swing's extremes.

WHAT IT DOES

This tool identifies the active swing high and swing low using market structure analysis on a user-selected timeframe, then draws six horizontal lines across the chart. Three lines mark the overall swing range: the swing high (labeled 0 or 1 depending on trend direction), the swing low, and the 0.5 midpoint. Three additional lines mark the OTE zone: the 0.618, 0.705, and 0.786 retracement levels.

The swing range lines and OTE lines use separate colors and styles so traders can visually distinguish the broader range from the entry zone. Labels at the end of each line display the corresponding Fibonacci value. The levels update automatically as new structure forms on the selected timeframe. A status message in the bottom-right corner indicates when the tool is waiting for structure to form or if the selected timeframe is invalid.

FEATURES AND USAGE

OPTIMAL TRADE ENTRY
  • Timeframe - Sets the timeframe used for swing detection. Must be equal to or higher than the chart timeframe.

  • Type - Controls how strictly a break of structure is confirmed.
      - Conservative - Requires a candle close beyond the swing level.
      - Aggressive - Triggers on any high or low beyond the swing level, including wicks.

  • Swing Range - Color and line style for the three swing range lines (high, low, and 0.5 midpoint).

  • OTE Range - Color and line style for the three OTE zone lines (0.618, 0.705, and 0.786).

  • Screen Top-up Color - Controls the text color for the status message in the bottom-right corner.

  • Size - Controls the size of the level labels and status message text.
      - Tiny, Small, Normal, or Large.

  • Line Width - Controls the thickness of all lines. Range: 1-5.

This tool works on any instrument and any timeframe, provided the selected structure timeframe is equal to or higher than the chart timeframe. The OTE zone highlights a specific retracement area within the current swing, which some traders use to look for entries in the direction of the prevailing trend. These levels are best used as confluence with other analysis - such as order blocks, fair value gaps, or session ranges - rather than as standalone entry triggers.
